The Effects of Leveling Machines on Metal Sheets
Update Time:2015/7/31 10:02:31    Clicks:10825

As is well known, leveling machines are primarily used to correct various specifications of sheet metal and sheared blanks, and are suitable for leveling both cold-rolled and hot-rolled sheets. So what exactly are the effects that leveling machines bring to metal sheets? Today, the technical team at Dongfang Machinery will provide you with a detailed answer.

1. Improving the Quality of Metal Sheets
A leveling machine is a precision machine tool designed to correct defects in coils and sheets. These defects include longitudinal curling, transverse warping, twisting, edge camber (sickle bend), wavy edges, coil breaks, and center buckling. By using a leveling machine, all of these defects can be effectively resolved, thereby significantly improving the overall quality of the metal sheets.

2. Relieving Material Stress
Leveling sheets with a leveling machine can relieve internal stress in the material. This is primarily because leveling technology enables selective elongation of different sections of the material. To achieve a uniform fiber length, the shorter fibers in the sheet are proportionally elongated below the material's yield point.
This is accomplished by repeatedly bending the material up and down in a cyclic motion with a small radius of curvature as it passes through the leveling machine, thereby stretching the shorter material fibers. As the sheet moves toward the exit of the leveling machine, the amplitude of the up-and-down bending gradually decreases, eliminating the material deformation caused by the intense bending at the machine entrance.

3. Accommodating High-Strength Materials
With the increasing use of high-tensile-strength materials in the metal sheet industry, greater leveling forces are required to properly level these materials. During the leveling process, higher leveling forces inevitably impact the machine structure and the leveling rolls. Equipment design plays a critical role in improving leveling quality and extending machine service life.
